This gorgous home is situated on a site steeped in a rich history. The home was built on the foundation of the orgional home built by Thomas Perley c1856. Soon after Thomas Perley was appointed as the Medical Inspector General for the Union army. Sadly, Perley's neighbors were not happy about his prestigious appointment and Perley Place was burned to the ground in 1860.
The only surviving portions from the fire include the 7' marble courtyard fountain and the 35' barrel brick wine cellar. This wine cellar was the only privately owned, pre-Civil War wine cellar in the United States and is still standing today!
